Google plans network to rival Facebook

"Google on Wednesday sought to counter the growing power of Facebook, unveiling a strategy that it claimed could eventually spread the benefits of social networking to other unrelated websites.
Shares in Google rose above $700 for the first time as the search engine company revealed details of its plan, OpenSocial, which marks its response to the threat of social networking – a force that has emerged on the web this year.

Facebook has become Silicon Valley’s hottest company since the rise of Google after it “opened up” its site to other developers earlier this year."

BBC finds a new friend in MySpace

Top Companies are all looking towards on what they can get out of the new craze of Online Social Networking sites.
Looks like MySpace still has some life left in its site as the BBC are looking to broadcast its video content through its platform. What about Facebook?

Found at Financial Times:
"MySpace and the BBC’s commercial arm will on Thursday announce an agreement that will see clips from popular programmes distributed on the social networking site owned by News Corp. BBC Worldwide will be MySpace’s first broadcasting partner as the site seeks to increase the video content available to users."
